Just a day after announcing her temporary departure, Ellie is whisked away on a safari, a journey she's always yearned for.
She shared her excitement with viewers, explaining that there was a bit of a delay between her summer wedding and this romantic getaway. "We had to have this gap because we got married six months ago, and you all know it was an extravaganza in South France," she revealed on air, with co-host Eamonn Holmes playfully remarking on the timing. It turns out Ellie, 31, tied the knot with her partner, Gerard Durkan, back on April 12th in a charming civil ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall. But the real party happened three months later with a spectacular three-day celebration at the Chateau de Robernier, a stunning 16th-century castle in Provence, affectionately nicknamed the "sleeping beauty castle" by locals.
And this is the part most people miss... While the wedding itself was a dream, the honeymoon is where the real magic is happening! Ellie took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her journey, posting a snap from her business class seat on a British Airways flight to Nairobi, Kenya. With a glass in hand and emojis of a honey pot and a half-moon, she perfectly captured the essence of "honeymoon."
Ellie and Gerard, who met at university, described their French wedding as the "ceremony of their dreams." She even shared that their celebration felt like their "real wedding," complete with exchanging rings and a traditional Celtic "tying the knot" ceremony. The festivities were truly memorable, featuring a rose pool party and a final evening dedicated to their Irish heritage with a live band and open mic. Even her GB News colleague, Stephen Dixon, was there to celebrate!
But here's where it gets controversial... Ellie took on the demanding role of wedding planner for both ceremonies herself! She admitted it was utterly exhausting, leaving her "knocked the stuffing out of me." Yet, despite the immense effort, she declared the results were everything she could have hoped for.
