Touchuponastar, a Louisiana-bred superstar, is set to compete in the $150,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic Stakes on December 13 at Fair Grounds Racecourse & Slots. This will be his fourth consecutive win in the race. The 6-year-old gelding, by Star Guitar, is trained by Jeff Delhomme and has been on a winning streak with back-to-back stakes wins at Delta Downs. He will face off against five rivals in the 1 1/8-mile race, including Letmikefigureitout, who won the Jacob V. Morreale Memorial Stakes and is also entered in the Louisiana Champions Day Turf Stakes. He's Late Again and Sippin On Gin, who finished third and fourth in the Jacob V. Morreale, will also compete in the Classic Stakes unless He's Late Again's connections opt for his cross-entered spot in the Turf Stakes. Benoit and the longshot Sonya Knows Better round out the field.
The day's card features six other stakes races, with purses totaling $900,000. The Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Sprint Stakes will see Secret Faith, who has won her last two stakes races, face off against four rivals she defeated in the Delmar R. Caldwell Memorial Stakes. Highly Wicked and Nora G will compete in the Ladies Turf Stakes, with Highly Wicked conceding 6-9 pounds to the other four runners. Little Miss Curlin, who won her stakes debut, will take on five opponents in the Louisiana Champions Day Lassie Stakes. Nine juveniles will compete in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes, with Creole Chrome as the morning-line favorite.
